The Center for Yoga of Seattle teaches yoga in the great yoga tradition of
Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar of India, author of Light on Yoga,
Light on Pranayama, Light on The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali,
The Art of Yoga, Yoga: The Path to Holistic Health, and, most recently,
Light on Life. In 2004, B.K.S. Iyengar was included in
Time Magazine's list of the 100 most influential living human beings.
Seeking Résumés
Though we usually train our own teachers and promote from within,
the Center is open to looking at other highly qualified Iyengar-trained
teaching candidates. If you are a trained teacher in the Iyengar method
and are interested in being a part of the Seattle area's premier Iyengar
Yoga institution, we invite you to send us a résumé that includes your
training and teaching experience.
If you have a strong background in Iyengar Yoga but limited teaching experience,
we may be willing to train you if we feel you have the right combination of desire,
motivation, curiosity, energy, and intelligence, along with good interpersonal
skills. If this describes you, feel free to send us a résumé and letter
describing your interest.
Send resumes to info@yogaseattle.com,
with "teaching positions" in the subject. You can also mail your resume to:

Re: Teaching Positions
Nationally Recognized Teacher Training Program
The Center has a nationally recognized
Teacher Training Program
to develop serious and committed Iyengar Yoga students to the level where
they can teach safety and confidence and skill. We not only offer several
5-day trainings on some of the fundamentals of practice and teaching
each year, but also have 200-Hour, 12-Weekend Teacher Training Program
meeting approximately one weekend a month, as well as a month-long summer Teacher
Training Immersion in July. In addition to these programs, we have many
weekend workshops, which can function as teacher training on various important
topics.
One of the most important aspects of Iyengar Yoga is a student's regular contact
(preferably at least weekly) with his or her class teacher, where the student
receives ongoing instruction and feedback in developing practitioner skills in yoga.
For our most promising Teacher Training Students, we offer
Apprenticeships,
where apprentices observe regular classes and are slowly trained to be
assistant teachers. For more information on the various teacher training
programs we offer, please see our
Teacher Training Brochure.
