Every yoga teacher needs to develop skills in teaching yoga to those who need a slower, less strenuous, and one that doesn't stretch doesn't overstretch the students.
In this 4 week Saturday session you will learn:
What are the most effective poses to teach a population that needs a slower approach.
How to use props effectively so that less flexible students can do yoga with good alignment and be stable and safe.
You will experience a variety of standing poses, supported and unsupported backarches, forward extensions, sitting poses on the floor, the effective use of a chair, beginning safe inversions, and relaxation poses.
Richard Schachtel is one of the most experienced yoga teachers in the Northwest. He has taught yoga since 1975 in Seattle, and has taught throughout the US, in Australia, in China (2017), and in India (2017).
Richard has been teaching a Weekly Slower Class for the past 7 years. In these classes, he has learned to modify classic Iyengar Yoga Poses to those who need a softer, less strenuous approach to yoga.
